Shannon Heather

Shannon Heather is a photographer and videographer based in Whistler, BC, creating emotionally driven work through still and motion. Her focus is on storytelling that captures essence, energy, and presence—whether through photography, videography, or branded content.

 

Shannon’s foundation is in fine arts, earning a Diploma of Fine Arts and a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology with a Photography minor. Her photography is rooted in the human experience, shaped by her diverse academic background and a deep curiosity about the rich myriad of life as it unfolds, unadulterated. Her favourite style to shoot is documentary, and her work has touched on themes of culture, adventure, celebration, seduction, destruction, and land use. Through her lens, she aims to tell stories that are complex and multifaceted, striving to bring attention to the subtle narratives and contrasts that define our shared human condition and evoke a sense of connection and understanding through her images.

 

With over fourteen years of experience in photojournalism, her work has appeared in publications such as VICE, Rolling Stone, and Future Music Magazine. 


She would like to gratefully and respectfully acknowledge that she lives and works on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Lil̓wat7úl (Lil'wat) and Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) Nations. She honours their language, culture and history.
